For many students, starting university means moving away from home into rental accommodation for the first time.

QUT has loads of information about moving into a place to call home, tips and ideas on how to live in a share house and a service which can help you find a place of your own.

So, if you are thinking about moving into a share house, or living in one already and need some ideas on how to make the house work really well go to: www.qut.edu.au/sharehousing.

This site has lots of great ideas on how to set up a share house, how to manage or prevent share house conflict, information about your tenancy rights and responsibilities, and even a section to help you balance your budget. You can also read some real life stories in our Dr House section and sign up to a share house newsletter so that you are always up to date with share house happenings.

If you are looking for accommodation or have a spare room that you want to rent out, check out the Accommodation Service on www.qut.edu.au/accommodation.

This site will be able to give you the low down on suburbs near QUT and how to find yourself a home.

Can't find what you need on these sites or would rather talk to someone in person? Then please come and see us in Counselling Services.

For people on low incomes there are some government run and/or funded affordable housing scheme's which you may be eligible for.
